Street/Travel Photography

The course emphasizes field practice of street/travel style photography. Class time will be devoted to learning technical aspects of the camera, compositional ideas, and lighting techniques to capture this style of photography. Field trips will visit the downtown mall every week to concentrate on different subjects and techniques.

Each class will have a lecture with a Q&A period. Lectures will include handouts and slide presentations. During the critique sessions, students will bring in images for discussion. The final class will be a presentation by each student culminating the previous weeks of shooting. This will be a fun and challenging class for Intermediate and Advanced level SLR students. You must know how to use the camera in the manual modes and basic computer skills for downloading, emailing and editing images.

Course requirements:
Students will need the following equipment for this class:

  • SLR digital camera
  • Tripod
  • Off camera flash is helpful but not required

    You must know how to use the SLR camera in the manual modes (manual, aperture & shutter priority) or have taken Intermediate Photography for the SLR. Students should also know how to download and email images for critique/review sessions. Please contact instructor for questions on admission requirements.
